The physical world, likewise the mental one, is loaded with energy. Any object has a flux of psychic forces that are named pratyaya. As explained in the Upanishads, micro cosmos and macro cosmos are indissolubly connected. The psychophysical elements, thought and atoms that constitute the micro cosmos, human bodies included, are the same ones that constitute the macro cosmos, the individual toxic thought increases the toxicity of the general mind.
While there are numerous people who are aware of their physical health, it is much more difficult to find someone aware of what is happening to his psychic health, because the culture we live in doesn’t provide adequate parameters to recognize and monitor it. The knowledge of the physical structure seems to be for everyone, the knowledge of the mental one is only for few specialists. Every species, in the animal and vegetal world has his peculiar psychic structure and it is based on this that male and female bodies, reptiles, fishes and so on take a form. In the Gita (XV.9) we explain that the physical structure of any living being rotates around the psychic one. This is also true for the macro cosmos. Anything that crystallizes in the world, “leans” on a hidden, implicit order that is nothing else than a thought. Great people have demonstrated that there is much more that what we can see and perceive with the senses. There are perceptions that go way beyond the capability of the sensorial apparatus. For examples, authentic mystics can have this type of experience. They can break the veil of appearance and penetrate reality by entering the essence of things. The human being is potentially able to generate valid and ecological thoughts and intentions with positive contents. This is the level of consciousness that we should reach. It is a source of well being, first for the subject, but for his environment as well. As Vedic tradition states and we can practically experiment, the living being, the person, is not the psychic or physical structure, but he has these instruments to reach the purpose of life, the ultimate goal: the highest well being, self-realization. The closest we get to the inner-self, the more this becomes clear and real. The inner-self is that “motionless motor” that manages all the dynamics even within the space-time paradigm. This motionless motor is atman. Its three inalienable characteristics are existence (sat), consciousness (cit) and beatitude (ananda). Because of the reflection of the atman light in ahamkara, the distorted ego, the individual wonders in the changing world, transported by the waves of impermanence generated principally by the thought. By perfecting his thought, man can then modify his action and consequently reach the supreme destination of illumination, happiness and Love.
